In 1975, Harmonium was incorporated as a nonprofit (501 c 3) in Mira Mesa, a community of San Diego North City. In the year 2000, Harmonium celebrated its 25th anniversary

Mission: Harmonium works to create strong families and communities

We partner with children, youth, families, and communities to build responsive services leading to happy, successful lives.

Target Population: While the agency serves all ages, its core services target children and youth, ages 5-19 years, their families, and the communities in which they live.

Programs:
Today, Harmonium runs programs throughout San Diego City, from Oceanside to San Ysidro, Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, and the other North City communities, Poway, Ramona to Julian, the entire East County from El Cajon to Jamul including the mountain and high desert region, La Mesa, Spring Valley, and Lemon Grove.

• Counseling: out patient clinical services and juvenile diversion services from worst case to normal teen relationship issues. '' Individual, Family and Group Counseling Juvenile Diversion Services (San Diego Police Department, El Cajon and La Mesa Police Dept., Sheriff Department partnerships. ADHD/ADD attention problems (behavioral groups/testing) Supervised Visitation Program (Family Courts) 'i Family Support and Advocacy Services In-Home Family Services 'r Wraparound Heartbeat Services 'r Referrals from Schools, Law enforcement, Child Welfare, Mental Health, Health, other past and present clients, and self-referred.

• 6 to 6 Programs (City/County/San Ysidro) Harmonium is currently running after school programs on 21 elementary school sites; in September, Harmonium will run 58 other school programs on 54 elementary school sites and 4 middle schools.

• Klassic Kids licensed child care bungalows on public school grounds: 8 elementary school sites.

Enrichment Programs Fee-based classes, covering a widely diverse subject base, held after school on local elementary and middle school sites throughout the County

Teen Centers: Flagship is oldepicentre/San Diego Regional Teen Center, but we have been actively involved in starting (5) other Centers in Spring Valley (2), Ramona, Lakeside, and Alpine.

Community development activities: initiation and active support of a number of community coalitions, including Mira Mesa Stakeholders, El Cajon Collaborative, Spring Valley Collaborative, Ramona-Julian Collaborative.

Revenue:
As of September 2000, Harmonium will have annual revenues approaching $8 million.

In FY 2000-2001, the agency grew over a third of its size. Two years ago, revenue was primarily private or self generated funds, through insurance, fees, and donations. Government funding was 16%. Currently, government funding is well over half of revenue. Overhead continues to be 8-9% of revenue. As of September, Harmonium will employ annually (with matriculation) close to 800 full and part-time employees.
