MISSION
The mission of the CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) Program is to introduce and foster the entrepreneurial development of teens ages 12 – 19 from all social, ethnic and economic backgrounds.

The goal of the training program is to ensure that teens learn to become economically self-sufficient and use their entrepreneurial skills to improve their communities.

Specific objectives for each class are developed in partnership with students.

Benefits to students include the development of:

• Specific business skills from budgeting to public speaking
• Knowledge of business and government systems
• Entrepreneurial attitudes including self-confidence, independence, personal responsibility
• Commitment to their communities

Students not only learn the basics of starting and operating a small business, but also learn math, reading, writing, and develop critical thinking, workplace readiness, teamwork, planning, organization, communication, and decision-making skills.

We believe the CEO program has a direct impact on students’ academic performance, attendance rates and self-esteem. According to an independent evaluator in 1999, NFTE’s curriculum meets a wide variety of federal, state and local education standards requirements, including social studies and language arts.
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Inc. (NFTE -- pronounced "nifty"), founded in 1987 and based in New York City, is an international nonprofit organization that has introduced 28,000 low-income and at-risk young people to the world of business and entrepreneurship by teaching them how to develop and operate their own legitimate small businesses.
