The Women's Studies Graduate Program offers:

Concentration in Women's Studies
In conjunction with another graduate program, students must take Women’s Studies 201, 202, and 210 (12 units of 200-level courses) and submit a Women’s Studies-related major research paper for approval by the Chair of the Graduate Committee. These requirements for the Women’s Studies Concentration are in addition to requirements of their primary program in their department or school, and must be completed before advancing to candidacy. Upon completion of the requirements, Women’s Studies will furnish each concentrator with a letter attesting to their basic competency in graduate work in Women’s Studies.

Masters of Arts in Women's Studies
Students must complete 40 units, including the graduate sequence of Women’s Studies 201, 202, and 210, a research methods course or the equivalent in a related discipline, and four units of Women’s Studies 598, master's thesis research. Of the total units required, 12 units must constitute a field of emphasis in the form of graduate courses on women/gender offered by other UCLA departments or programs. No more than four upper division undergraduate units (typically one course) and four units of independent study (596) may be counted toward the MA degree.

Doctor of Philosophy in Women's Studies
Students must complete the 40 units for the M.A. degree. They must complete 20 additional units, including 12 units of Women’s Studies 599, dissertation research. A maximum of eight upper division undergraduate units may be counted toward the degree.
