Middle School Field Trips

SDEF is pleased to offer an environmental field trip at NO COST to 5th – 7th grade classes throughout most parts of San Diego County. This approximately two hour field trip will introduce students to the historical impact mankind has had on our environment and, most importantly, address the actions that individuals can take to improve our air quality.

During the field trip students will interact, during a conducted tour, with a variety of exhibits that explain what it takes to create a cleaner future. Students will help create cleaners cities, learn about alternative fueled vehicles (AFV’s), find out what makes a hybrid car, see an actual fuel cell and learn about the promise of the Hydrogen Economy.

As a separate service, not part of the SDEF Ecocenter educational program, SDEF can also provide to many parts of San Diego County free school bus transportation for classes to and from its Ecocenter using a clean air CNG School Bus provided through a grant from San Diego County Air Pollution Control District. The bus is CHP certified and will be operated by certified school bus drivers under a contract with Coach USA. For more detailed information on bus transportation, please see information under Teachers - Field Trip Experience
